A little boy’s Christmas wish – to be a superhero!

While visiting friends on the weekend before Christmas, we spent a chilly afternoon walking around a cute downtown shopping area in Long Grove, Illinois. While there, Santa Claus was wandering through the streets saying hello to children as they walked by. He stopped to talk to our small group, and asked each of the 4 young children what they wanted for Christmas. Our friend’s daughter requested an Elsa dress; their son a Transformer. Then Santa got to my six-year-old, Judson. Santa Claus asked Judson what he wanted for Christmas. Continue reading

Looking for a fight – and finding a lesson about relationship

I like to sit at Panera when I write. I like the atmosphere, the bagels are great, and I love the unending coffee. (I also like to write sitting at home with a glass of red wine. When the “Countdown to Christmas” becomes routine

Christmas is definitely coming – and it is coming very quickly! Families have different ways of preparing for, or actually counting down to Christmas Eve. We officially have FOUR different Advent calendars in our home – four different routines each night to help our family countdown to Christmas.

Explaining Christmas to a toddler….

The Christmas season is so much more joyous when there are toddlers around! We have the opportunity to experience the “magic” of the season through their eyes. So fun to watch their reaction as they see the lights and decorations, taste the yummy treats and hot cocoa, sing and listen to the traditional holiday songs. Continue reading
