Building Better Memories

My son, now officially 8-years-old, has had opportunity for many fun, new experiences this summer… sleepovers, his first week at camp, his 8th birthday – which for some reason we seem to be celebrating for weeks! All Day, Every Day

So, our son went to church camp. I might sound like a broken record by now,  but this was a BIG deal! It was a week my husband and I have been excited about since the moment we left camp, got married, and started our life together. Searching for hope in the shadows

We dropped our almost 8-year-old off this afternoon for his first week-long summer camp. Given our history with this particular outdoor ministry, this was a pretty momentous occasion for our family. (See Ministry with a little elbow grease.) I was eager to write about this big day. But given the senseless violence which has saturated the news this week, I feel I must assess our day from a different angle. Continue reading

Seeking Stillness

Sometimes the inside of my head is a deep, dark, stressful place to be. Moments of quiet bring planning, worry, excessive organization and an attempt to control life. Distractions become a blessing when they disrupt my frantic, spiraling negativity.
